Founded in 1966 in Edmonton, Alberta, the Ahmed Group has a long-standing tradition of excellence in real estate development. The late Dr. Hashim M. Ahmed, a visionary leader and respected community figure, established the company and his teachings continue to guide the organization’s decision-making to this day.

Under the leadership of his eldest son and current President and CEO, Mr. Moe Ahmed, the Ahmed Group has experienced significant growth and expansion. As of 2024, the company is a major player in the development of new rental residential housing across Ontario, with a development pipeline valued at over $2 Billion and assets under management of over $100 Million.

Through Mr. Ahmed’s leadership, acute business acumen and proven track record, the Ahmed Group is well-positioned for continued success and exponential growth in the future.

MOE AHMED

President & CEO

As CEO, Moe leads the executive team, focusing on business relationships and strategy, and providing executive oversight on all operations. He is responsible for making critical decisions and identifying new opportunities for growth and expansion. Moe has over 14 years of experience in the residential and commercial real estate industry and, together with his team, manages over $100 million in assets and a development pipeline of over $2 billion in projects in Ontario, Canada.

 

Moe’s expertise spans multiple disciplines, including land planning, real estate law, corporate finance, government relations, real estate development, construction and property and asset management. This breadth of knowledge, coupled with his leadership and entrepreneurial acumen, makes him well-suited to guide the Ahmed Group as it embarks on a new chapter of development and construction.

 

In addition to his professional pursuits, Moe is also dedicated to giving back to the communities in which he grew up and around the world. He serves as the Executive Director of the Ahmed Foundation, a charitable initiative he founded to support organizations helping people in need, including The Canadian Red Cross, Trillium Health Partners, and the International Development and Relief Foundation. He also founded and serves as the Executive Director of the “Down with Hatred” initiative, a non-profit organization that seeks to break barriers and foster unity, intercultural dialogue and connections between communities.

 

Moe’s entrepreneurial journey began at a young age, as the Founder and CEO of the TAC Auto Group, and as the Founder and President of the Ontario Car Dealers Association. His ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities, coupled with his leadership skills, have been key to his success and will continue to serve as the backbone of the Ahmed Group as it grows and expands.

Imran Ahmed

Chief Development Officer

Imran, with over 8 years of industry experience, serves as the Chief Development Officer at the Ahmed Group of Companies Inc. His expertise lies in real estate development, specializing in mid-rise and high-rise residential and commercial properties, particularly in-fill developments. Imran’s role at the Ahmed Group involves identifying and nurturing business opportunities, expanding the company’s market presence, and fostering strategic partnerships. A key highlight of his tenure is the collaboration with Plaza Corp on a monumental project exceeding $1 billion, showcasing his adeptness in managing large-scale luxury developments. Educated in Optics/Optical Sciences at the University of Waterloo, Imran further honed his business acumen with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Harvard Business School Online. Prior to his current role, he was the CEO of Diamond Luxury Developments, where he led various residential and commercial projects. His multifaceted skill set includes negotiation, international trade, and change management. Imran’s linguistic proficiency in French, Arabic, and English enhances his ability to engage with a diverse clientele. His strategic vision and leadership are instrumental in driving the growth and success of the Ahmed Group’s business development initiatives.

Timothy Harris

Chief Operating Officer

Timothy, with 16 years of experience in real estate and investment, is the Chief Operating Officer at the Ahmed Group of Companies. His role encompasses managing the firm’s finances, technology, and talent development, along with guiding its strategic direction alongside the CEO. This includes overseeing investment and development opportunities, managing income-producing properties, and stakeholder communications. Timothy’s career transitioned from project management in construction to real estate development, where he built a billion-dollar plus real estate pipeline and managed a national student rental development portfolio. Subsequently, he founded TAHO Capital Management Inc., developing a proprietary quantitative investment system. In these previous capacities, Timothy held Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) and Fellow of the CSI (FCSI®) designations. In addition, he was registered as an Advising Representative, Dealing Representative, Commodity Trading Manager, Chief Compliance Officer, and Ultimate Designated Person with the Ontario Securities Commission.

Educated in software engineering at Western University, Timothy’s technical and financial expertise is pivotal in his leadership at the Ahmed Group. His background enables him to adeptly assess real estate investments, contributing significantly to the firm’s operational and strategic growth. His diverse professional journey, from construction to hedge fund management, has equipped him with a unique perspective beneficial for the dynamic real estate industry.

BADAR RANA, CPA, CMA

Corporate Controller & CAO

Badar Rana is a highly experienced finance and accounting professional with over 20 years of experience in controllership, public accounting, and industry. He has a demonstrated in-depth knowledge of formulating and implementing organizational policies and procedures, fulfilling statutory requirements, and conformance to accounting standards. He has also gained extensive international experience.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with majors in Accounting and Auditing and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) in Ontario, Canada. He has held various positions throughout his career including being a Corporate Controller for the Ahmed Group of Companies, a real estate development and construction company, and for GP Custom Metals Inc., a specialty steel manufacturing and fabrication company.

He also served as a Regional Contract Controller for Wärtsilä Corporation, a leading multinational company that provides complete Lifecycle power solutions for marine and energy markets globally.

In addition to his professional experience, Badar also serves as a Board Member for Peel Cheshire Homes Brampton Inc. and was a Board Member and Member of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Compassion Society of Halton.

Maher Jebbeh, M.S., PMP

VP of Business Development

Maher, currently the Vice President of Business Development at the Ahmed Group of Companies, boasts over 30 years of extensive expertise in project controls spanning diverse sectors, including residential, industrial, and commercial projects. His proficiency in contract negotiations, project management, and cultivating stakeholder relations has been instrumental in driving business growth and ensuring operational efficiency. Maher holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University, supplemented by a Real Estate Broker License, highlighting his versatile skill set.

 

Before joining the Ahmed Group, Maher excelled as Contracts and Procurement Manager at Royal Mirage Homes, showcasing expertise in contract management and budget oversight. At Turner & Townsend CM2R, as Senior Consultant, he honed cost management skills. Notably, as General Manager at Al Hadi Contracting, Maher drove operational excellence, led multimillion-dollar projects, and fostered collaboration. Proficient in strategic planning, leadership, contract negotiation, and client relations, he upholds high compliance standards, delivering exceptional service and surpassing expectations.

JOSE GARRETON, BSC, MA, M.DIV

Senior Project Manager

Jose is an experienced and accomplished Senior Project Manager with over 35 years of experience in the construction industry. He is a highly skilled professional with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in all aspects of project management, from concept design and planning to cost analysis and supervision. His exceptional communication, teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills have enabled him to successfully manage a wide range of projects throughout his career, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Throughout his career, Garreton has held senior roles at several reputable companies such as Ahmed Group of Companies, Diamond Luxury Developments, Grander Designs & Consulting, CSEI-Intron Engineering Corp, and Gowlings Lafleur Henderson LLP. He has been responsible for managing projects from the tendering and awarding of proposals to final design, permit applications, zoning variances, cost analysis, feasibility studies, and budgeting. He has also been responsible for managing all professional services and professional reports, ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest standard.

In his free time, Garreton is a dedicated pastor and director at New Hope Reformed Church, where he serves as Minister of Word and Sacraments and is responsible for the spiritual well-being of a congregation of around 100 people. He is a highly respected professional with a reputation for excellence and a commitment to delivering results. His experience, skills, and dedication make him an invaluable asset to any organization looking for a highly capable and results-driven Senior Project Manager.

WARISHA AHMED, BA, M.MGT.

Executive Vice President

Warisha is a seasoned HR Professional, demonstrating a robust history across diverse sectors with her adept skills in Psychology, Time Management, HR Management, Teamwork, Critical Thinking, and Leadership. Holding a Masters of Management with a focus in HR Management from the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor, her expertise is deeply rooted in academic excellence and professional practice. Warisha’s career trajectory has seen her excel in roles from HR Generalist to HR & Operations Manager within the Ahmed Group, showcasing her ability to lead and innovate in human resources and operations management. Her bilingual proficiency in English, Urdu, and Punjabi further complements her versatile communication skills, essential for diverse workplace environments.

Throughout her career, Warisha has made significant contributions at ONroute, CPVM Group, and A&W Food Services of Canada, reflecting her capacity to navigate and enhance HR functions within varying industry landscapes. Her tenure at the University of Windsor as part of the Residence Desk Management Team underscores her early leadership and management capabilities. Warisha is currently pursuing a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, signaling her commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in the field of human resources. This dedication is evident in her progressive career, marked by leadership roles and a continuous pursuit of knowledge and certification in her field.

STEPHEN SPARLING

Head of Government Relations

Stephen is currently the Vice President of Government Relations and Communications at Ahmed Group of Companies. He has a long history of involvement in politics and public service, having served as a Regional Councillor in Oakville, Ontario for nearly ten years and as Chairman of the Halton Planning and Public Works for five. He has also held leadership roles in various political and charitable organizations, including the Conservative Fund of Canada, the Toronto Board of Trade, and the Toronto Blue Jays Foundation.

After leaving elected politics, Stephen became President of Halton Government Relations, advising land investors and developers in Halton. He was a founding Board member of the Oakville Economic Development Corporation and Chaired the Mississauga Board of Trade Government Affairs. He was also a member of the Toronto Board of Trade Municipal Affairs, which worked extensively with Mayor Ford in reducing the City of Toronto’s annual budget by over $340 million dollars.

Throughout his career, Stephen has been a sought-after expert on both business and political affairs and has been interviewed by various media outlets, including the Business News Network (BNN), CBC Radio, CBC Power & Politics, CTV Question Period, Profit Magazine, Globe & Mail, and the Toronto Star. Stephen is known for his commitment to supporting his clients and colleagues, his vast vision, and his attention to detail, which allows him to achieve goals and objectives quickly and efficiently.
